New Link

New Link in the sidebar to a Swedish Gull Blog called truthjalpen, which loosely translates as 'Gull Aid'. the images are fantastic and the content fascinating, detailed and knowledgeable but I guess this is what you would expect from Hans Larsson and Jorgen Bernsmo. That's right him, the one that did the awesome plates for the Helm Gulls book.It's only been running three months but it's a must visit if your interested in large white headed gulls. Go, now, revel. Oh don't be fooled when you arrive and its all in Swedish, on the sidebar they have added the Google Translate widget to turn it into English or any other language you care to use.

'Baltic' Gull

Stef Mcelwee has kindly allowed me to post a series of shots of a putative juvenile 'Baltic' Gull taken in Lincolnshire on 2nd September 2009. It is an interesting individual that shows many of the key features attributable to fuscus at this age such as the slender build, very pale head, breast & belly, dark greater coverts with whiteish tips and cold grey appearance.
